Hello, I’m Aaron.
I’m a Documentary Wedding Photographer based in Birmingham. Thank you for stopping to look at my website and taking time to read my ‘about’ page!
Why Documentary Wedding Photography?
Having worked in the exhibition industry as a graphic designer for the past fourteen years, I decided to challenge myself to in a new career. I left my desk job in 2017 and embraced my true passion: Photography.
Capturing people in the moment is why I love street photography. There is a real magic in documenting a spilt second in time; the glance or reaction, the mood or motion, once a photograph is taken, the moment can be relived potentially, forever. As much as I love street photography I feel wedding photography is the most fun and rewarding style of documentary photography for me: happy couples, families and friends, together enjoying one of the most special days in our lives. I get to be there to document the day for a happy couple. How lucky am I to get to do that, maybe I could be your wedding photographer?
Capturing the memory
There is nothing more important than creating special memories with the people we love and I feel privileged that I work in a profession where I’m able to capture your happiest moments in the making.
Photographs have the power to invoke incredible emotions within us and are often the things we look to save and treasure if we are about to lose everything else.
What else about me? I love my wife Kate. We meet in 2015 and early on in our relationship Kate helped me to cope with my mothers cancer diagnosis. When my mom passed away, Kate and I had only been together for three months but I knew she was the one. She helped me through the most difficult time in my life and I came out of the other side realising how lucky we all are to share this life. I was even more lucky to have someone I love to get me through the tough times.
I’m a big music fan, sort of stuck in the 90’s grunge era but love new artists who are creating beautiful and thought provoking music. I love Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Ryan Adams and many, many more bands – just ask Kate about my record collection.
So, if you’d like me to help you create a reference point for your most important moments: Your wedding or engagement; a family event or special occasions or just a moment in time that you don’t want to be forgotten, then please get in touch.
Finally, I hope you enjoy exploring my photographs and I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: If you only take ‘documentary’ photos will you take portraits of us as bride and groom?
A: Of course! It’s one of the most important shots of a couple on their wedding day. Depending on what you want, we’ll find some time in the day to get the classic ‘couple shots’. The guests won’t even notice you’re gone!
Q: We don’t like having our photograph taken, is there anyway you can make it less painful?
A: I’m the guy for you! By hiring a documentary photographer you will get just that, which means I’m not going to shoot the ‘formal’ shots; photograph you, your bridesmaids, groomsmen, whole group all together, your uni friends, your pet dog, cat and goldfish all sitting next to each other looking happy. I will capture you guys and your guests, in the moment, enjoying the day. I want to be as unobtrusive as I can be. That’s it! … Although, it would be pretty cool to try and photograph the dog, cat and goldfish together!
Q: How do we book and pay?
After an initial meeting where we have a casual coffee and chat if you decide to hire me then I’ll email the terms and conditions and an invoice for the booking fee of 25% of the cost. you can pay by bank transfer and we’re all set, you’ve just booked your wedding photographer!
Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes, I have insurance covering myself and my equipment. I also have backup equipment, two cameras, plenty of memory cards and various lenses if something goes wrong, I’m covered. Let me know if you or the venue need to see my documents.
Q: When will we receive our photos?
A: Ohh, the best bit! I will personally edit and hand over the photos on a USB memory stick in a presentation box around 3-4 weeks after the wedding day.
Q: We’re getting married in New Zealand, can you photograph it? (This isn’t ask frequently!)
A: That sounds great to me, drop me a message, I’ll see what I can do!
