Working with a charity

Out With The Old, In With The Old

Earlier in the year I contacted Age Concern Birmingham as I wanted to use some of my time to help out some local charities. There had been a recent refit of their headquarters in Boldmere so I hoped they might want some photos of the new ‘Communitea Café’, and the community it serves on a daily basis.

Andy Foxhall from Age Concern emailed me back to ask if I could photograph the Boldmere site and also some of the other Wellbeing and Community Centre’s which are dotted around Birmingham. New up-to-date images to replace the old stock photos they’d been using where needed. Driving from south to north Birmingham I’d meet Andy and see exactly what he needed…

The Café And The People

Andy asked if I could get some inside and outside photo’s of the Boldmere site’s ‘Communtea Café’ with a couple of the local groups who met there in the shots. The staff and people from the local area who use the café would also need photographing as they work or meet and chat for coffee of breakfast. He also wanted some shots of a local advice officer who is there to help people which legal and financial advice.

Wellbeing

For the Wellbeing and Community Centres images of the building, staff and also the people who use the centres would need to be capture; after all this charity is designed to help these people the most… the older people who visit the various centres to stay active, engaged and give them other people to talk and laugh with.

I set to work with documenting the Boldmere site, I would visit the Wellbeing Centre’s soon…
